Now there seems to be no stopping Barack Obama in his quest to become the first African-American president. Paradoxically even Republicans support him. Former Secretary of State in the George W. Bush government, Gen. Colin Powell, has made the decision to support Barack Obama for the Presidential Election in November. Having made his decision after watching the three Presidential debates and stating that he doesn't trust Sen. John McCain's grasp of economy:"In the case of Mr McCain... you got the sense that he didn't have a complete grasp of the economic problems that we had."
In response to the news, speaking on Fox News, Mr McCain said he had "always admired and respected Gen Powell", but that it came as no surprise.
Colin Powell's decision gives support to the notion that American elections are more about trust in the person than in the political line. Obama leads in the national prognosis with app. 50 percent compared to McCain's app. 43 percent. I will be interesting to follow the last part of this Presidential race.
